Dying - 70 Seconds

3baid linked this video entitled "In The Fall" on Vimeo ~ an ironic take on the demise of an average joe and life flashing him by ~

What would your life look like? What were your best moments ... I can think of a few of my own:

My Flashback
  • When I was born, my mother gave her Rolex to the nurse ... I bet that was the nurse's retirement package.
  • At the age of 3 I was dropped by my sister ... this explains my bubble butt: adaptive evolution and natural selection.
  • At 6 I discovered I did not want to be a cannibal when I nearly bit my cousin's finger off.
  • At 9 I caught my first pokemon and realised that they weren't edible
  • I became a professional drummer at 12, but no body was hiring ...
  • When I was 15 I was too young to go to college, until I actually became a college kid at 16 and realised all I had to do was party to pass
  • At 18 I started working thinking I wanted a career, now I realise all I wanted was a pay check
  • Between 21 and now life's like a foreign film with no subtitles ~

Now for a bit of geekism ~

Geekism

The bloke starts falling at 00:23 and the clip ends his fall at 01:33. That's exactly 70 seconds. We can now figure out how far the chap travelled if we use the following equation for curvilinear motion:

x(t) = x(0) + V(0) * t + 1/2*a*t^2

  • x(t) is the distance covered at time t

  • x(0) is the initial distance/location (usually 0)

  • v(0) is initial velocity (0 if dropped from a height and not thrown down)

  • a is acceleration (in a vaccum this is 9.8m/sec^2 on earth)

This translates to:

Distance = 0+0*70+((1/2)(9.8)(70^2))

This means that out friend dropped 24.01 kilometres ...

What would you think about for 24 kilometres?! x']
